Buso Renkin: Weird (in a Good Way)
In all my years of watching anime, Buso Renkin contains a lot of “firsts” for me. This is probably one of the only times that an anime is funny enough to have a character wearing a tuxedo with a moon as a face, and his name actually be “Moon Face.” And he yells “Moon.” This is an antagonist, by the way.

There is also a scene where another antagonist, a young man donning a butterfly mask and a tight spandex bodysuit (and sometimes he just wears a thong), orders fast food with our hero. And they don’t fight.

For someone to say to me that Buso Renkin isn’t weird would tell me a lot about the place they come from—a lot of scary things. But that's not to say that that’s all there is to Buso Renkin. I can also tell you that the “Buso Renkin” is a weapon that is entirely unique depending on the individual using it. By the power of alchemy, an item called a “kakugane” is activated by the person’s fighting instinct, and their own particular latent power converts into a weapon entirely their own. Pretty cool, action-oriented stuff.

So you could say that Buso Renkin is more of a shonen show than a straight comedy. Still, I would recommend not watching this show in a place where it’s not safe to randomly burst out laughing (like I did).
